Care + Support

The care and nurture of our congregation, as well as the support outlets we offer to our community, are top priorities at Gainesville First. We recognize that a person’s health is about more than their body.  Our Care + Support ministry intentionally ministers to the whole person… body, mind and soul.

Below, you will find information on Counseling & Referrals, Support Groups, and numerous Recreation opportunities.

If you know of someone who could benefit from any of these ministries or you are interested in volunteering, contact Rev. Carolyn Clifton

Visitation Ministry

Gainesville First focuses on several areas of visitation, including Hospital, Homebound or Assisted Living, and Follow-up visitation.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through confidential one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love, care, and support they need.

Cancer Care Ministry

Cancer touches the life of 1 in 3 people in the US daily. How can we as the church come alongside and offer care and support to families who are walking this journey?

Quilting & Sewing Ministry

Quilts and prayer shawls are made, prayed over and given to those experiencing serious illnesses. In addition, special prayer quilts are given to babies at their baptism.

Prayer Ministry

GFUMC wants to be here for you - as a church community and as prayer partners. You can submit a prayer request directly to our pastors. They would love to pray for you.

There is also a Devotion and Prayer Line available (678-343-2733) for you to call and hear hear a brief devotional and prayer from one of our pastors. We hope that this will provide encouragement, hope, and God's presence to those in need.

Counseling & Referrals

Our pastors are always available to meet with you on an individual basis. Just call the Church Office to make an appointment.  However, there are times when a trained professional is needed for long-term counseling or specialized assistance.
