Making a Difference
At GFUMC we have the unique opportunity to share God's love with the Baker & Glover community. We offer a weekly After School Program and other special events throughout the year in their neighborhood.
Baker Glover Community Center
Gainesville First has partnered with the Path Project to empower kids and students in the Baker Glover community through relationships and education.
The Community Center in the Baker Glover Mobile Home Park provides programs that are designed using research-based best practices and are led by certified teachers and youth development specialists who serve alongside incredible volunteers. We offer onsite programs including Preschool Mommy and Me/Story Time, Elementary Homework and Reading Clubs, Middle and High School Leadership Clubs, FCA Soccer Teams and Summer Camp opportunities.
If you are interested in serving, contact Meredith Pierce.
Soccer Camp is held each year during the summer at the Baker & Glover Soccer field. Thanks to our sponsors, kids are able to experience this camp for free.
A fun community event held at the Baker & Glover neighborhood filled with free food, fun and games!
Smart Lunch, Smart Kid
Nearly 1 million children in Georgia are eligible to receive free or reduced-price lunch, a crucial meal that disappears in the summer. Smart Lunch, Smart Kid, partners with local churches, like GFUMC, to ensure that these children are fed in the summer. Members of GFUMC took food to children in the Baker and Glover neighborhood all summer, removing the barrier of lack of transportation.
School Supply Collection
Each year, GFUMC helps provide all of the school supplies for over 100 elementary children from the Baker and Glover neighborhood. These children wouldn't have the tools they need for success if it wasn't for your generosity!
