I Don't Need Another Weekend Retreat
You might be surprised.
The two pilgrims on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24 were members of Jesus's inner circle. They had watched Him be crucified. They had helped bury Him. They knew He was no longer in His tomb. As they walked, a stranger joined them. Being fervent Christians, they witnessed to the stranger of the recent events. They even told him that they had heard Christ was alive.
But the pilgrims were not happy. They "hoped that it had been he who should have redeemed Israel (verse 21)," and after three days of waiting they were about ready to give up hope. Strong believers.
As Jesus broke bread with them, the pilgrims realized that He was the risen Christ! He had been with them all along the path, yet they still had doubted!
If you ever have doubts even though you are a strong believer, you will benefit from the Walk to Emmaus. He will break bread with you and explain the Scriptures once again.
