CenterPoint (formerly known as the Christian Education Center) offers religious education, mentoring, counseling and other programs and services to help young people make healthy lifestyle decisions. Gainesville First United Methodist Church was instrumental in the founding of CenterPoint. Through a covenant relationship, GFUMC provides ongoing financial support based on the number of members in our congregation to this organization. Back to top

At various times during the year, GFUMC has congregation-wide collections of items such as school supplies, coats, heaters, fans and food are held to support helping agencies in our community. Back to top
We join with other churches to supply and staff the Community Food Pantry which provides an emergency food supply for those in need. The Community Food Pantry is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12 - 1:30 p.m. Back to top
Disaster Ministry responds to disasters locally, in the conference, in the Southeast Jurisdiction, and elsewhere with the purpose of giving help, hope, and healing to victims of disasters. This ministry responds, in the spirit of Jesus Christ, preserving the dignity of the person without regard to religion, race, nationality, or gender, and seek to enhance the quality of life in the human community. Gainesville Action Ministries (GAM) links persons in need to agencies in the Gainesville area and works to prevent homelessness with in-kind relief and emergency financial assistance to prevent utility disconnection or eviction. GFUMC has a long history of partnering with the Gainesville Aid Project (GAP). Through GAP, youth and adult leaders from our church work with other youth to complete home repair projects for elderly or those in need. Back to top
Teams of men from GFUMC purchase the food, then prepare and serve a meal each Monday at Good News at Noon. Approximately 100 people are served each day. Back to top
Great Day of Service, Saturday, March 21, 2009, is GFUMC’s annual day of special focus on outreach ministry. Church members spend the day serving one another and the community. Back to top

Habitat for Humanity – GFUMC has partnered with other churches in the Gainesville area to construct Habitat for Humanity homes the past two years. We have utilized a volunteer network within the church to provide labor for the projects. Back to top
Minister’s Emergency Fund are discretionary funds for ministers to help meet critical, immediate needs of those who come to the church for help. Back to top
Special Outreach Fund enables GFUMC to respond to special needs or opportunities during the year. Funds come from gifts made on Communion Sundays and during special seasons of the year such as Lent and Advent. Back to top
GFUMC volunteers have an ongoing program called Urban Ministry with children from the Baker-Glover Mobile Home Community. Back to top
