About GFUMC's Outreach Ministry
From its beginnings, Methodism has stressed that personal salvation leads to involvement in Christian mission in the world. At Gainesville First UMC, we hold fast to the doctrinal emphasis that faith and good works belong together.
Our church engages in a number of outreach ministries, both locally and globally. In 2008, the Outreach Ministry of GFUMC focused locally on the needs of children and four local organizations serving those needs: Boys and Girls Clubs, Gateway Domestic Violence Center Children’s Program, Good News Clinics – children’s medical and dental needs, and L.A.M.P. Ministry. In addition, we support GFUMC’s Urban Ministry with the children of Baker Glover Mobile Home Community.
Globally, GFUMC supports missionaries in Romania and Mexico, partner churches in Serbia, the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf in Jamaica, Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras, and the West African Theological Seminary in Nigeria.
