Michelle Alexander serves GFUMC as a Music Ministry Assistant where she coordinates Children’s Music and leads worship in the Living Waters Praise and Worship Service.  Michelle came to ministry from education, where she taught for 20 years. After many years volunteering in adult and children’s music at GFUMC, she came on staff full time in 2008.

Tom Barnes
Music Ministry Assistant

Tom Barnes has served as Music Ministry Assistant at GFUMC since March 2009. He works in many facets of the Music Ministry program, including as an accompanist, substitute organist and conductor. He directs the Chancel Choir Ensemble and Youth Choir. Additionally, he teaches private piano and guitar lessons and has experience in music ministry and teaching high school choirs.  He holds degrees in music from Furman University and Florida State University. Tom currently lives in Gainesville and is married to Rebecca Stokey Barnes.

Joanna Cauller
Administrative Assistant

Prior to joining the staff at GFUMC in 2011, Joanna (Royal) Cauller worked at Crown Financial Ministries where she served as the assistant to the Director of Sales, assistant to the Director of Volunteer Ministry, and was the liaison to the Field Staff of the Georgia Office. At GFUMC, she serves as the Church Receptionist, Music Administrative Assistant and the Concert Series Coordinator. Joanna lives in Gainesville with her husband, Shane.

Keith Jefcoat
Organist and Adult Bell Choir Director

Keith Jefcoat joined the GFUMC music staff as organist in 1993. He also directs the Lakeshore Carillon Ringers. Keith earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brenau College in 1978 and received his Masters degree in Music from the University of Georgia in 1983. Keith owns and operates Preparatory Music Inc., where he teaches a large piano studio.

John LaForge joined the GFUMC staff as Director of Music Ministry in June 2012. As a solo performer, John has sung with opera companies and symphony orchestras throughout the United States. Prior to coming to GFUMC, he worked as a music educator and administrator for more than 15 years. His involvement in community arts organizations includes serving as Director of Auditions for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Southeast Region and Associate Conductor of the Michael O’Neal Singers in Roswell.
