Care & Support

The care and nurture of our congregation, as well as the support outlets we offer to our community, are top priorities at Gainesville First. We recognize that a person’s health is about more than their body.  Our Care + Support ministry intentionally ministers to the whole person… body, mind and soul.

Below, you will find information on Counseling & Referrals, Support Groups, and numerous Recreation opportunities.

If you know of someone who could benefit from any of these ministries or you are interested in volunteering, contact Rev. Carolyn Clifton

STEPHEN MINISTRY

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another. Through confidential one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love, care, and support they need.

QUILTING MINISTRY

Quilts are made, prayed over and given to those experiencing serious illnesses. In addition, special prayer quilts are given to babies at their baptism.

Prayer Shawl Ministry.jpg

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The Prayer Shawl Ministry knits and crochets shawls, hats and throws for members of the church who are ill and others in our community who find themselves in a time of crisis. With every stitch a prayer is offered for the recipient that they might be wrapped in God’s love. They meet the first Thursday of the month from 1 - 3pm in the Connect Café. Contact Pam Cameron at umapc7@gmail.com for more information.

PRAYER MINISTRY

GFUMC wants to be here for you - as a church community and as prayer partners. You can submit a prayer request directly to our pastors. They would love to pray for you.

Support

COUNSELING & REFERRALS

Our pastors are always available to meet with you on an individual basis. Just call the Church Office to make an appointment.  However, there are times when a trained professional is needed for long-term counseling or specialized assistance.
